DeepSeek vs ChatGPT

There has been a lot of buzz around DeepSeek since yesterday (27-Jan-2025) when it wiped out billions of dollars in tech stocks. The stock route led by NVDIA has shook the AI world with Trump led plan to invest $500 billion in AI transformation being questioned.

The emergence of Chinese AI app DeepSeek has shocked financial markets, and prompted US President Donald Trump to describe it as "a wake-up call" for the US tech industry.

DeepSeek's claim that its R1 artificial intelligence (AI) model was made at a fraction of the cost of its rivals has raised questions about the future about of the whole industry, and caused some the world's biggest companies to sink in value.

DeepSeek has become the most downloaded free app in the US just a week after it was launched.

I just tried to test DeepSeek and compare it with ChatGPT by providing an image to both of them and asking them ‘What does this image say?’. The results are amazing. Here are the results:

ChatGPT:

The image reads:

Ashley Sleep Best Base
With lumbar and audio

LEVEL UP YOUR SLEEP
• New lumbar support
• Adjustable head & foot features
• Motion sensor LED underlighting
• Bluetooth speaker system
• Phone app compatible
• Massage

NEW! (with an image of the adjustable base at the bottom).

DeepSeek:

The image appears to be an advertisement or promotional material for a product called "Ashley Sleep Best Base." It highlights several features of the product, including:

- **New lumbar support**
- **Adjustable head & foot features**
- **Motion sensor LED underlighting**
- **Bluetooth speaker system**
- **Phone app compatibility**
- **Massage functionality**

The text also mentions "LEVELUP YOUR SLEEP," suggesting that the product is designed to enhance sleep quality. The word "NEW!" indicates that these features are recently added or updated.

  5. Wow! Nice article 👍🏻. Very well explained by testing it, after reading this I had to go back to your Chat GPT article (2023), so in just less then 2 years we have another AI tool.
I feel both offered nearly identical answers with only minor differences in presentation and cited source.
